Glasgow City Council has confirmed that a prestigious Civic Reception will be held to welcome delegates of the International Festival of Athletics Coaching (IFAC) to Glasgow.

The reception will be hosted by sportscotland, the national agency for sport in Scotland, and a key supporter of the International Festival of Athletics Coaching which takes place from 30 October to 1 November 2009.

Louise Martin CBE, Chair, sportscotland said: "Glasgow is a city with a proud sporting tradition and it gives us great pleasure to welcome everyone by hosting this reception in the wonderful setting of Glasgow's City Chambers.

"Coaching plays an important part in Scotland's legacy plans for the Commonwealth Games to be held here in Glasgow in 2014 and this conference provides a fantastic opportunity to learn from the experiences of the very best coaches from all over the world. I wish the organisers and delegates all the best for a successful conference."

The Civic Reception will be held in the historic City Chambers in Glasgow's George Square on the evening of Saturday, 31 October 2009.
