ELIO LOCATELLI (ITALY)
INTERNATIONAL AUTHORITY ON JUMPS AND SPRINTS

Dr. Elio Locatelli is the Director of Member Services at the IAAF and has been a prominent figure in developing the network of High Performance Training Centres (HPTC) and Regional Development Centres around the world. The IAAF now has eight HPTCs across the continents, and many athletes have benefited from time spent at these centres and have improved their performances at world level as a result. Indeed, a number of HPTC-trained athletes have gone on to become medal winners at international competitions.
In addition to raising world performances through developing the network of HPTC, Locatelli is also a top authority in sprinting biomechanics and has published several research papers. His work includes important research into “modelling the energetics of 100m running by using speed curves of world champions” and “the mechanics and energetics of the 100m sprint.” Locatelli is equally a leading international authority on jumps. Away from the track, Elio Locatelli is also a former coach to Italian football giants, FC Juventus.
